Cows Produce More Pollution than Cars

A member of the Care2 group posted this article, but didn't leave a link, so all I have for this is a link to the post at the group, though I have read similar stories in other newspapers. Australia is making a joke out of it. But, it is no joke.

It is real, and it is serious.

Some people are referring to a "fart tax," but the real truth is that the gases ar coming out of the other end of the cow because they belch them out all day long.

Really.

Did you know, for instance, that each cow produces nearly 20 lbs. (19.3, to be exact) of emissions that help create smog, and there are 20 million of them in the San Joaquin Valley area of California alone? When you do, then you see the scope of the problem.

Officials want dairy farmers to implement devices used to control these emissions, but of course, the dairy folks not only don't want to do this because it will be expensive, but they make it into a joke, just like the ones in Australia do.

When you take this pollution factor into account and then add the fact that dairy cows live horrible lives, are given hormones, and are slaughtered for hamburger if they don't just go lame and become animal food, not to mention that activists are quick to remind those who use dairy products that they ought to consider that there is a chunk of veal in every glass of milk, and you can see why I dumped the dairy.

It was surprisingly easy to do, too. With all of the different alternatives on the market now that are more healthy for you and give you more calcium than the animal proteins leach out of your bones, there just isn't any reason to include dairy in your diet anymore. It is NOT a good source of calcium, and it will make you gain weight. Even skim milk because they add in more whey. The studies are available to anyone who care to look into them. They just rarely make it into mainstream media because of who sponsors them - the same industries that don't want these facts known by the public.

Once again, you are being lied to.

The industry and the USDA (which are basically the same thing nowadays) want you to believe that what I and others write about this is mere propaganda because we want everyone to become vegetarian, but the real culprits of spreading propaganda are the ones who have the most to gain from selling and promoting these products.

Again, I have many sources on this where I can prove what I am saying. They don't.

'Nuff said. Dump the dairy.

I promise you that you won't miss it, you will be healthier, and you will even lose weight. You just don't see too many fat vegans. Think about it. It can and does happen with a poorly-planned diet, but that is rare. Laura and I each lost about 40 lbs. over the course of a year without even trying, and we ate more!
