Oklahoma versus Arkansas Poultry - the story

This is one of the latest articles in this saga. Needless to say, I have been following this one with great interest, especially since my main nemesis, Tyson, is involved. We have a discussion with another, longer article cited at the Care2 group here (and no, you don't have to join just to read the articles in either of my groups).

See, the Attorney General of Oklahoma, is just fed up with this problem. This dispute has been going on for around 2 years with nothing happening except more pollution flowing into the waters originating here in Arkanas, but ending up in Oklahoma. He got tired of lots of talking and absolutely no action. So, he finally sued them - 14 of them to be exact. Good for him!

One of the biggest concerns is the Illinois rivershed, where there are 2363 chicken houses having runoff polluting Oklahoma streams and drinking water sources. According to what Edmondson said in the article, the chickens are responsible for phosphorus waste of 10.5 million people. And that is just one chemical.

The poultry companies are pointing to the rapidly expanding human population. However there is one problem with that argument. There are still way less than 1 million people in the area...
